Thanks for sharing your experience. I had similar trouble with my 2013 Lucra last winter, ABS light and traction control acting up. My wheel alignment was totally off after fixing the sensor issue. Just wondering how much you ended up paying for the full repair? Mine came to about 850€ with parts and labor. Have you noticed any other electronic control issues since getting it fixed?

Just got my Subaru Legacy back from the shop last week after dealing with that lateral sensor problem. The total repair came to 1000€, which covered fixing the faulty control unit and recalibrating the electronic control systems. Since the repair, the vehicle stability systems have been working flawlessly. The yaw rate readings are now accurate, and both the ABS and traction control are functioning as they should. The steering angle sensor is also properly calibrated, no alignment issues like you experienced. The mechanic confirmed the lateral acceleration sensor was indeed the root cause. They had to completely replace the affected control unit rather than just repair it, which explains the slightly higher cost compared to yours. But honestly, its worth every cent knowing all safety systems are now operating correctly. Haven't experienced any other electronic glitches since the fix. The car handles perfectly in all weather conditions, and all warning lights have stayed off. Seems like a proper repair of these stability control components really does solve the issue completely.

Thanks everyone for the insights. I took my car to the shop yesterday after seeing these responses. The mechanic confirmed the lateral sensor issue and found some additional problems with the wheel alignment. They replaced the control unit and recalibrated all vehicle stability systems. The steering angle sensor also needed adjustment. Total bill came to 920€ but the difference in handling is remarkable. No more safety warning lights and the traction control works perfectly now. The shop tested everything thoroughly before returning the car. The yaw rate readings are spot on and the electronic stability control responds much better in turns. Really glad I got this fixed before the bad weather hits. Will update if any other issues pop up, but so far the car feels completely stable and all systems are working as they should.

A similar issue occurred with my 2012 Subaru Legacy 2.5i. The diagnostic scan revealed problems with the steering angle sensor, which directly affected both the ABS and traction control systems. The root cause was a failing control unit that incorrectly processed signals from the lateral acceleration sensor. This triggered multiple safety warning lights on the dashboard. Vehicle stability was significantly compromised, making it unsafe to drive in wet conditions. The repair required replacing the ABS control module and recalibrating the steering angle sensors. This is not a DIY job, proper diagnostic equipment and programming tools are essential. The control unit contains critical safety systems that need precise calibration. After repair, all electronic stability functions were restored. The mechanic performed extensive testing to verify proper operation of the traction control and ABS systems. Given that these are primary safety features, any warning lights should be addressed promptly by a qualified technician. Note that driving with malfunctioning stability control systems poses serious safety risks, especially in adverse weather conditions. Consider this a priority repair rather than an optional fix.
