Stuck Sunblind? Fix Your Unresponsive Sunroof System

Thanks for the reset procedure explanation. Did that reset sequence multiple times but still no luck. Getting error code E-115 on the display when trying to operate the sunroof control. No recent electrical work or battery disconnect, this started happening suddenly last week after my regular 100,000km service. Just to update, tried disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes hoping the sunroof mechanism would reset, but the sunroof calibration is still off. The sunblind continues to be jammed. Really hoping to avoid a full sunroof control module replacement if possible. Starting to think it might be a wiring issue given how abruptly everything stopped working.

Yeah, that E-115 code is exactly what I got on my Chevy when the sunroof calibration went haywire. After my initial reply, I actually discovered it wasn't just a simple reset issue, had the same experience with the battery disconnect not helping either. Turns out the timing of your problem after the service is pretty telling. In my case, the sunroof troubleshooting led to finding that some wiring near the headliner got disturbed during routine maintenance. The mechanic had to remove some trim panels to access other components, and this inadvertently affected the sunroof operation. My final fix required: Checking and reseating all sunroof control module connections, having the wiring harness inspected for any pinched spots, getting a professional car sunroof recalibration Total repair ended up around €200, mostly labor for tracing the wiring issue. The automobile sunroof systems in these models are pretty sensitive to any wiring disturbances. Would definitely recommend having the connections checked, especially around areas that might have been accessed during your recent service. Skipping proper diagnosis could lead to bigger issues, learned that the hard way when I kept trying DIY fixes first.

Thanks for sharing those details about your similar experience. Your repair situation really helps put things in perspective. I'll take the car back to the service center and have them specifically check those wiring connections since this started right after they worked on it. The price you mentioned for the fix sounds way better than a full sunroof control module replacement. Makes total sense about the wiring possibly getting disturbed during the service, they did have the headliner partially removed to check something else. I'll stop messing with the sunroof troubleshooting on my own and have them do a proper inspection of the sunroof mechanism and wiring harness. Better to get it done right than risk making things worse. Really hoping it's just a loose connection causing the sunroof system calibration issues. Will insist they thoroughly check all the points you mentioned, especially around areas they accessed during the service. Thanks for steering me in the right direction with this!

Had a similar issue with my 2015 Chevy Bolt, also dealt with a stubborn sunroof system. The Spark EV from the same era had comparable sunroof setup too. As someone with some experience working on electric vehicles, I can tell you sunroof reset issues are pretty common in these models. My sunblind got stuck and needed a complete sunroof system recalibration. The workshop had to do a full coding reset of the sunroof module, cost me about 75 for the programming work. Before jumping into repairs though, you could try a basic sunroof reset: 1. Press and hold the close button for 20 seconds 2. Release and quickly press close again 3. Wait for the auto-calibration to complete If that doesn't work, you'll likely need professional diagnostic work. The sunroof operation usually needs proper initialization when the control module loses its settings. What error code are you getting exactly? Has there been any recent battery disconnection or electrical work done? Knowing these details would help narrow down the issue.
