Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's at 250067 KM and was just serviced last month. I'm getting the same symptoms, no noise at all when pressing the switch. Actually, when I try to operate it, absolutely nothing happens. No clicking, no motor sound, just dead silence. And yeah, that warning light just stays constantly on, doesn't even blink or anything. Might give your solution a try, €75 sounds way better than what I was worried it might cost! Did your garage mention if this is a common issue with Vauxhalls? Just wondering if I should expect it to happen again.
Hey again! Yeah, I totally get what you're going through now, sounds exactly like what I experienced! My Astra had about 220,000 KM when it happened to me. That complete silence when pressing the switch is such a tell-tale sign, right? And about it being a common issue, funny you should ask! When I went back to my garage last week for routine maintenance, I actually chatted with my mechanic about it. He mentioned he's seen this problem pop up quite a bit in Vauxhalls from around 2007-2009. Apparently, it's something to do with the control module getting "confused" over time. I've had no issues since that recoding fix (it's been about 8 months now), but my mechanic did give me a heads up that it might need another reset in a year or two. He said it's just one of those quirks with these models. Not a huge deal since the fix is pretty straightforward and relatively cheap. One tip though, while you're getting it fixed, get them to check the wiring connections too. My mechanic did that as part of the service, and it's good preventive maintenance. Better safe than sorry, right? Let me know how it goes when you get it sorted!
Thanks so much for all this detailed info, it's exactly what I needed to hear! Really reassuring to know I'm not alone with this issue and that there's a relatively simple fix. I've actually just booked it in at my local Vauxhall specialist for next Tuesday. Your tip about checking the wiring connections is really helpful, I'll definitely mention that to them when I drop it off. It's good to know I might need another reset down the line too, at least I can budget for it. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, you've saved me a lot of worry! I'll post an update once it's sorted in case anyone else runs into the same problem. Cheers!
Hey there! I had a really similar issue with my 2009 Vauxhall Astra diesel. The sunroof was acting up just like yours, totally stuck and throwing warning lights. Super annoying! Took it to my local garage and turns out it needed a recoding of the sunroof control module. They hooked it up to their diagnostic computer and reset/recalibrated the whole system. Cost me around 75€ and took about an hour. Fixed it right up, no problems since. What's the exact error message you're getting on the dash? Also, does it make any noise when you try to operate it? Might help narrow down if it's the same issue I had.
