Strange vibrations from the engine compartment of a Peugeot 406 Diesel - Possible defect in the vacuum-controlled engine mount?

Vibrations from the engine

Hi folks, I have a strange problem with my 2005 Peugeot 406 Diesel. I have recently started to feel strange vibrations coming from the engine compartment. Could this perhaps be a defect in the vacuum-controlled engine mount? Do any of you have experience of this or have had this problem before and could give me a few tips on how to proceed? I am particularly interested in how you solved this problem in the workshop and what your experiences were. I would be grateful for any advice.

Hello, I once had a similar problem with my Peugeot 407 Diesel, built in 2007. I may not have the greatest expertise in cars, but I do know a bit about them. In my vehicle it was a defect in the control unit. I paid around 1000 euros to have it fixed in a workshop. It could be something else in your case, but without more information about your car it's hard to say. How many kilometers do you have on it? Did your car show any other indicators or symptoms before the problem occurred? Hope this helps a bit. Let me know when you have more details.

Hi and thanks for your reply! My Peugeot has 72602 kilometers on the clock, the last service was recently, and apart from the vibrations, everything is running smoothly. I haven't had any other noticeable symptoms or warning signs. But your experience sounds really bad, hopefully it's nothing serious in my case... I'll take your advice to heart and have my car checked out. I'll keep you up to date!

Hello again! Given the mileage of your Peugeot, I wouldn't necessarily assume engine bearing damage, especially as you have no other symptoms. My 407 also had other problems with the ECU fault, hence the high price for the repair. It's really hard to say what could be wrong with you. Maybe it's just a minor issue. It could just be some loose parts that are vibrating. In any case, I would advise you to have it checked in the workshop soon. Even if it hopefully won't be as expensive as it was for me, it's better to get it sorted right away before it gets any worse. In any case, keep us up to date! I'd be interested to see what the outcome is. Good luck!

Hey, thanks again for your helpful input. You're right, it doesn't have to be the worst. I'll take your word to heart and get it checked out at the garage. Hopefully it really is just a minor issue. And sure, as soon as I have any news, I'll let you know. Your support is very much appreciated. Thank you very much and see you soon!
