Strange behavior of low beam and high beam on 2010 Toyota Avalon with gasoline engine

Dim or flickering lights

Low beam and high beam seems too high or too low

Hey guys, I'm getting a bit annoyed with my 2010 Toyota Avalon with a gasoline engine and around 28411 kilometers. I've noticed that my low and high beams seem strangely high or low, really bizarre! I've also noticed that the lights are flickering or dimming a bit. After my last unpleasant mechanic experience, I thought it might be due to a faulty blinker. Have any of you had a similar case with your car? How did you deal with it and what did your mechanics do? I would love to hear your experiences and hope you can give some tips. Thank you very much!

Hey, I know the problem. I recently had it with my 2007 Toyota Camry. It was actually a defective control unit. The mechanic had to take the whole thing apart and we replaced the control unit. It wasn't fun, I can tell you that. But since then the lights have been running like clockwork again. I'm now also worried about further problems in the future, but so far it's working. So it seems to be a common problem with these models. Hope that helps you. It just happens. Driving isn't always fun, sometimes it's trouble.

Hey, thanks for the reply. A control unit defect like that really doesn't seem to be a walk in the park. Can you remember how much the whole thing cost you? And has anything happened again since the replacement or has everything been running smoothly since then? Fortunately, I'm not alone with this problem... Driving can be really stressful sometimes.

Hey, no problem, you're welcome. The fun with the defective control unit cost me 880 euros at the time. Since then, however, everything has been fine and I haven't had any more problems. I was particularly pleased that the faulty blinker was fixed after the visit to the mechanic. So, I hope that helps you a bit. Driving can be a real pain sometimes, you're right. But cheer up, it will work out!

You've helped me a lot, thank you! 880 euros is a hefty price, but if it solves the problem, it's worth it. I'm relieved that there have been no further problems since then. So I guess I will have to take my Avalon to the mechanic. Thank you again for the help and I hope for some luck that everything runs smoothly again afterwards. Driving should be fun, shouldn't it? But sometimes we just have to get through stuff like this. Cheers to better times and uninterrupted driving!
