Running into boost pressure problems with my Stelvio 2.2 diesel, check engine light is on and the turbocharger seems to be acting up. Getting a whistling sound plus hissing during acceleration, and the engine feels really sluggish. Fuel consumption has gone through the roof lately. Car has about 91k on the clock and I suspect the boost control actuator might be failing. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Really want to avoid getting ripped off at the shop, so looking for insights on what to expect for repairs and costs.

The boost control actuator issue started with identical signs, whistling noise, poor acceleration, and excessive fuel use. Thanks for sharing your experience. That sounds exactly like what I am dealing with right now on my Stelvio. The actuator fault symptoms match perfectly with what you described. After getting the boost pressure actuator fault fixed at the shop, everything has been running perfectly. The turbo system is working smoothly with no whistling or performance issues. Total repair came to 250 Euro for replacing the electrical bypass valve, which was indeed defective. The turbo actuator and wastegate are now operating exactly as they should. No more excessive fuel consumption or sluggish acceleration. The turbocharger delivers proper boost pressure and the engine performs like new. Have put another 15k on the clock since the repair with zero boost-related problems. The actuator valve repair completely resolved all the original symptoms. Worth every cent to have it properly diagnosed and fixed rather than risking further damage to the turbo system. Definitely recommend getting it sorted soon while its just the bypass valve. These issues tend to cascade and can get much more expensive if left unchecked.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Finally got it sorted at the mechanic last week. The turbo actuator was definitely the culprit, just as suggested. Shop confirmed the wastegate wasnt getting proper control signals due to the faulty actuator valve. Repair came to 280 Euro including parts and labor. They had to hook it up to specialized diagnostic equipment to properly calibrate the boost pressure after replacing the actuator. Money well spent though, car runs like new again. No more whistling sounds or sluggish acceleration. Fuel consumption is back to normal too. The boost control is working perfectly now. Did a proper highway run to test it and the turbo system responds exactly as it should. Really glad I got it fixed before any serious damage occurred to the turbocharger. For anyone else facing similar symptoms, dont wait too long to get it checked. These boost pressure issues only get worse and more expensive if ignored.
