Start Stop System Problems

I'm at my wit's end with this confounded Start-stop system on my 2014 Mini Paceman. The system refuses to engage, and I'm getting an error stored in the error memory. Frequently, the engine shuts off unexpectedly, accompanied by a warning light in the speedometer. From what I've gathered, a heavily discharged or defective car battery is the likely culprit. Has anyone else encountered such maddening behavior?

That sounds awfully familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot – the start-stop system would throw a fit and sometimes the engine would stall. Turned out the car battery was on its last legs. Does your Mini Paceman have the original battery? How old is it?

Interesting. The Mini Paceman still has its factory-installed car battery, so it's roughly ten years old. Was your Peugeot exhibiting similar issues like the error memory storing a fault and the warning light illuminating in the speedometer? Did you ever experience any issues with the automatic restart or the starter motor?

Yep, the Peugeot displayed the same symptoms. Error messages galore, warning lights, and the start-stop simply refusing to cooperate. I'd say a new car battery is your best bet, but honestly, I'd just take it to a workshop to be sure. Could save you some headaches.

Just wanted to give an update. As suspected, it was indeed the car battery. A new one set me back 290€ including installation. The Start-stop system is now functioning as expected. Thanks for your input; it steered me in the right direction!
