Thanks for sharing your experience! This definitely sounds similar to my situation. Would you mind letting me know how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also curious if you've had any other sensor-related problems since getting it fixed? I think I'll bite the bullet and get it checked out this week. Really don't want to risk damaging the engine by putting it off too long.
Hey again! Glad to give you an update! Just got my car back from the shop, and I'm happy to report they found exactly what I suspected, it was the camshaft sensor wheel giving false readings. The total bill came to 695€ for the fix, including parts and labor. They had to replace the sensor wheel on the camshafts since it was defective. Since the repair, my Accord has been running like a dream, no more stalling, rough starts, or any of those annoying issues. It's been about 6 months now, and I haven't had a single sensor-related problem pop up. The engine runs smooth as silk, and the check engine light has stayed off. You're making the right call getting it checked out quickly. These sensor issues might seem minor, but they can definitely cause bigger headaches if left unfixed. Just make sure your mechanic uses quality parts, it's worth paying a bit extra to avoid having to fix it twice. Let us know how it goes with your repair! Always good to hear how these things turn out.
Just wanted to update everyone on how things turned out! Took my car to the mechanic yesterday, and you were spot on, it was indeed the camshaft sensor causing all the trouble. The mechanic found some additional wear on the timing components, but nothing too serious. Total repair cost was slightly higher than expected, but honestly worth every penny. The difference is like night and day! Car starts up perfectly now, even on cold mornings, and the engine runs super smooth. No more unusual stalling or power loss issues. Such a relief to have this fixed finally! They did use OEM parts as suggested, which probably explains why it cost a bit more, but I'd rather do it right the first time. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the decision to get it checked out right away. Feel so much better driving now without worrying about getting stranded somewhere. Sometimes you just need that extra push from someone who's been through the same thing! Best decision I've made for my car in a while. Really appreciate everyone's help on this!
Hey there! I had nearly identical issues with my 2006 Honda Accord (gasoline 2.4L) last summer. The symptoms matched yours exactly, unusual stalling, rough idling, and cold start problems. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed the camshaft position sensor. In my case, both camshaft sensors were failing, causing incorrect timing signals to the ECU. The repair took about 2 hours, they replaced both sensors and cleared the error codes. It's not a super serious issue if fixed promptly, but continuing to drive with faulty sensors can potentially damage your engine timing and catalytic converter over time. Since the repair, my car has been running smoothly with no issues. If your symptoms are this similar to what I experienced, I'd definitely get those sensors checked out. Make sure they use OEM parts, my mechanic mentioned aftermarket sensors can sometimes be problematic on these Hondas. Just my two cents based on my experience with this exact problem.
