Thanks for sharing your experience. I had exactly this problem with my SQ7 last year. The lock actuator completely failed and needed full replacement, plus they found some corroded wiring in the release mechanism that had to be fixed. Did you end up getting it properly fixed? Would be good to know the final cost and if the repair has held up since then. In my case, the key fob functions all went back to normal after the repair, but interested if you experienced any other electrical gremlins afterward.

After my initial issues, I got it fixed properly at a certified workshop. The repair was completely successful, no more problems with the fuel filler release mechanism or any other electrical functions. The lock actuator replacement and rewiring work cost 210 Euro total, which included fixing the defective linkage in the release mechanism. The repair has held up perfectly for the past 8 months. All the key fob functions are working normally, and the electric actuator responds instantly when pressing the release button. No electrical issues have surfaced since the repair. The workshop identified the root cause correctly the first time, which prevented any recurring problems with the fuel flap or other systems. Worth mentioning that getting it fixed properly by professionals was definitely the right choice. The temporary workarounds I mentioned before could have caused more extensive damage to the entire locking system.

I took it to an authorized dealer last week and got everything sorted. The mechanic found multiple issues, corroded wiring near the fuel flap actuator and a faulty control module that was causing the electrical fault. The repair involved replacing the entire release cable assembly and reprogramming the control unit. Total cost came to 580 Euro for parts and labor, which was higher than expected but worth it since all functions are now working perfectly. The fuel filler flap opens smoothly with the release button, and those annoying error messages have disappeared. The whole repair took about 6 hours. They also did a full system diagnostic to ensure no other electrical components were affected. Honestly relieved to have it properly fixed rather than trying temporary solutions that could have made things worse.

My 2017 Audi Q5 3.0 TDI had the exact same fuel flap release issue. The problem turned out to be more complex than just the actuator. The main control module was sending incorrect signals, causing the fuel door mechanism to fail completely. The fault required: Full diagnostic scan, Replacement of the fuel flap actuator, Repair of damaged wiring in the release cable system, Control module reset and coding This was classified as a serious electrical system issue since it affected other vehicle functions. The repair took two full days at the workshop. The linkage connecting the release button to the actuator was also damaged, likely from forcing the fuel door open manually. A temporary workaround exists, there should be an emergency release cable behind the trunk panel. However, this is not a permanent solution and could cause more damage. Given your symptoms (no sound, no movement, error messages), your SQ7 likely has similar underlying electrical issues. Would strongly recommend having a full diagnostic performed at an authorized workshop, as amateur fixes often lead to more expensive repairs later. Remember to avoid using force on the key fob release button or fuel door while its malfunctioning, as this can damage the mechanism further.
