Car won't start

Looking for advice on potential fuel pump failure in my 2015 SQ5 with 57081km. Car wont start properly and stalls at idle. When it does run, engine is rough with terrible fuel consumption. Check engine light is on. Really need some automotive diagnosis tips before heading back to a shop since my last mechanic experience was awful. Has anyone dealt with similar fuel system issues on these engines? What should I look out for when choosing a repair shop to fix gasoline delivery problems?

Had similar symptoms with a 2012 S4 last month. The initial diagnosis pointed to fuel delivery issues, rough idle, stalling, and high fuel consumption are typical signs of fuel system problems. The fuel pump was operating but the fuel injectors were clogged, disrupting proper gasoline delivery. Car performance suffered significantly due to uneven fuel distribution. After cleaning proved insufficient, all injectors needed replacement along with the fuel pressure regulator. This is typically a serious repair requiring specialized diagnostic equipment to properly test fuel system pressure and injector function. The job needs a shop with experience in Audi direct injection systems. Key points to verify at any repair shop: They should pressure test the entire fuel system, Must have diagnostic tools for checking fuel injector spray patterns, Should inspect electrical connections to fuel pump and injectors, Need to verify fuel pressure sensor readings Most importantly, request to see the diagnostic data. A reputable shop will show you the pressure readings and explain how they determined the root cause of fuel delivery issues. This repair requires attention to detail and proper diagnostic procedures to avoid replacing wrong components.

Thanks for sharing your S4 experience. The symptoms do sound identical to what I had. My Audi SQ5 eventually got fixed at a specialist shop with proper diagnostic equipment. Would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was in your case? I noticed some other minor issues popping up with my fuel consumption after the initial fix, but those resolved themselves after running through a couple of tanks of high-quality fuel. The engine stalling completely stopped though, which was the main concern. Just curious if your car mechanics gave you any maintenance tips to prevent future auto repair needs related to the fuel system? My shop recommended regular fuel filter changes but Id like to hear what advice you got.

Thanks for the follow-up about your SQ5. Glad to hear the specialist shop resolved your main stalling issue. My fuel pump repair turned out to be much simpler than initially expected, just a faulty cable connection that was causing intermittent pump operation. The auto repair only cost 95 Euro for fixing the electrical connection, which was a relief compared to a full pump replacement. After the car mechanics corrected the fuel pump defective connection, all symptoms disappeared completely. My fuel consumption returned to normal levels and the engine runs perfectly smooth now. The shop did a thorough car performance check after the repair to ensure no other fuel system components were affected. For preventive maintenance, they advised: Using quality fuel from reputable stations, Replacing the fuel filter every 60000km, Avoiding running on less than 1/4 tank, Having fuel pressure tested during regular service These simple steps help maintain proper fuel system operation and can prevent future pump failure. Regular maintenance definitely costs less than emergency repairs.

After dealing with the stalling issues on my SQ5, I finally found a shop specializing in automotive diagnosis. The mechanic immediately spotted problems with the fuel delivery system using their testing equipment. The fuel pump needed replacing along with a clogged fuel filter. Total repair came to 780 Euro but the car performance is back to normal. No more rough idling or stalling issues. The shop showed me the old components and explained exactly why the fuel system was failing. What impressed me most was their thorough testing process. They checked fuel pressure, inspected all fuel injectors, and ran complete diagnostics before and after the repair. Much better experience than my previous mechanic who just wanted to replace unusual parts without proper testing. They also gave me a maintenance schedule to prevent future issues. Running the first tank of premium fuel through the new system made a huge difference in how the engine performs. Definitely learned my lesson about finding qualified specialists for complex fuel system repairs.
