SQ5 Climate Control Panel Dead, HVAC System Failure

Anyone else had climate control panel issues in their SQ5? My 2014 model with 83370km started acting up, heater barely works and AC wont turn on at all. Already got an error code stored but my last mechanic visit left me skeptical about their diagnosis. The control panel seems dead. Running a 3.0 TFSI engine and looking for advice before heading back to a shop. What could be causing this and any recommendations for specific things to check?

Had a similar issue with my 2011 Audi S4 3.0 TFSI. The HVAC system failure started with intermittent control panel response and eventually led to complete system shutdown. The root cause was traced to faulty electrical connectors between the climate control module and the temperature sensor. The power supply to the control unit was compromised due to corroded pins in the main connector block. This is a serious but common issue that requires professional diagnosis. The repair involves: 1. Testing the control module power supply 2. Checking all temperature sensor connections 3. Verifying the air conditioning control unit functionality 4. Inspecting wiring harness integrity The entire climate control module might need replacement if the electrical connections are severely damaged. Best to have a certified technician perform a full diagnostic scan, as temporary fixes like cleaning connectors often lead to recurring problems. These symptoms match classic control module failure patterns in VAG vehicles with the TFSI engine lineup.

Thanks for sharing this info about the control module issue. My SQ5 had almost identical symptoms and I was relieved to finally get it fixed last month. The blower motor would barely respond and the temperature sensor readings were completely off. Did you remember roughly how much you paid for the full repair? My HVAC system is working perfectly now but Im curious to compare costs. Also, have you experienced any other climate control related problems since getting it fixed?

Thanks for asking about the repair costs. After getting the SQ5 checked, it turned out to be a fairly straightforward fix. The issue was resolved by repairing a damaged connection between the electrical connectors and the climate control module. Total cost came to 95 Euro, which was much less than expected. Since fixing the faulty power supply connection, the entire system has been working flawlessly. The blower motor responds immediately, the temperature sensor readings are accurate, and the air conditioning performs perfectly. No recurring issues in the climate control system at all. The key was finding a technician who properly diagnosed the connection problem rather than suggesting a complete module replacement. These electrical connector issues are quite common in these models, but they dont always require expensive part replacements.

Finally got the repair done last week. After reading about your experience, I specifically asked them to check the electrical connections first. Smart move, turned out the main culprit was corroded wiring near the temperature sensor that was causing electronic faults throughout the HVAC system. The mechanic cleaned and repaired the connections, replaced one faulty temperature sensor, and recalibrated the control panel. Total bill came to 180 Euro, definitely better than the 900 Euro quote I got from the previous shop for a full module replacement. Control panel now works perfectly, both heating and air conditioning respond instantly. The mechanic mentioned these electrical issues are pretty common in our model year. Glad I got a second opinion instead of going for the expensive replacement right away.
