Hey, thanks for your quick reply. What you mention actually sounds similar to what I'm experiencing. I'm just really wondering how expensive the whole thing will end up being.... Do you remember what the repair cost you on your 5 Series? And did you have problems again afterwards or did everything go smoothly? Thanks again for your help!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for, to help each other! I can understand you, repair costs are always a bit unpleasant. In my case it was a problem with the wiring or the plug connection, and the cost to fix it was around €95. For a BMW that's really not bad, I was actually pleased with the price! And the good news is that since my visit to the mechanic, the faulty Hall sensor signal from the soft top has been fixed and it now works like a charm again. No more problems after that, my honey was running smooth as silk again! You should definitely get this checked, maybe you'll get lucky and it's just that. Good luck to you!

Hey, that's really encouraging to hear! A repair for around €95 wouldn't be a big deal, especially if everything runs like clockwork afterwards. I'll definitely take your advice and have it checked by a professional. I really hope it's a similar problem and just as easy to fix. Thanks for sharing your experience and good wishes! I'll keep you posted.

Hey, Sounds like an annoying problem. In your BMW, it could actually be the hall sensor of the soft top. These sensors report the position of the soft top to the control unit, and if they are not working properly, the system cannot detect whether the soft top is open or closed. As a result, it is blocked and the warning light comes on. So, as already mentioned, it could well be the sensor.

It seems like your BMW 6 Series convertible top issue could be due to a faulty Hall sensor, hydraulic system problems, electrical issues, control module faults, or micro switch failures. Consider using a diagnostic device to check for these issues. I would also check forums for similar experiences and solutions.
Hey, that doesn't sound too rosy. The last time I was in the garage, my 2007 BMW 5 Series actually needed a similar repair. In my case it was some kind of problem with the soft-top mechanism, very technical stuff, can't tell you exactly what it was. But the warning light and your soft top not opening and closing sounds like an issue I had. Would definitely advise getting this checked by a professional, don't end up doing more damage. But don't give up hope, it wasn't an insurmountable problem for me. Just keep a cool head and let the professional team do their job. Good luck with it!
