Skoda Yeti Diesel Gear Shift Problems

I'm at my wit's end with my 2011 Skoda Yeti diesel! The gear shift indicator is completely dead, and it's causing havoc. I can barely get it into gear, and when it does shift, it's jerky and unclean. Sometimes there are even grinding noises. The speedometer display is blank where the gear selection should be. The error memory shows something about the gear selection. Could a defective automotive electronics control unit really be the cause? I'm dreading a huge repair bill!

Grinding noises and the gear indicator failing? Sounds rough. Have you checked the basics, like the transmission fluid level and condition? When was the last time it was changed?

I haven't checked the transmission fluid myself, to be honest. Where exactly would I locate the dipstick, and what should I be looking for in terms of 'condition'?

Okay, grinding noises plus a dead indicator strongly suggest it's not just low fluid. The control unit issue seems plausible. Honestly, messing with automotive electronics yourself can cause even more problems. I'd recommend taking it to a qualified workshop for a proper diagnosis. They'll be able to pinpoint the exact cause.

Alright, thanks. A workshop confirmed a defective control unit. It cost 1000€ to sort it, but my Yeti shifts properly again.
