Skoda Yeti Diesel Engine Problem

My 2016 Skoda Yeti diesel has developed a problem. The check engine light is on and there is reduced engine power. When accelerating, smoke is visible. I suspect the crankcase ventilation valve is defective.

I had a similar issue with my Vauxhall Corsa. Check engine light, power loss... Sounded like a blocked PCV valve to me. Is there excessive oil consumption?

Oil consumption seems normal. What exactly does the PCV valve do? Does this affect emissions?

The PCV valve recirculates crankcase gases back into the engine, reducing emissions. If it fails, it can cause all sorts of problems. I suggest getting it checked by a workshop.

The PCV valve was the problem. Replacement cost 360€. The smoke is gone and the engine light is off.
