Skoda Yeti Diesel Automatic Transmission Problem

I'm experiencing a rather concerning issue with my 2013 Skoda Yeti diesel. The car won't start, and the check engine light is illuminated. Furthermore, the gearbox seems to be slipping or shifting rather uncleanly. A diagnostics check shows an error stored in the error memory, pointing towards a defective parking position in the automatic transmission. Could this be a complete transmission failure? I'm worried about a costly transmission repair. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Could it be a gear linkage issue?

Sounds like a sticky wicket. I had a similar issue with my Skoda Yeti, though I can't recall the exact mileage. It sounds like your automatic transmission is throwing a fit. Check engine light, slipping gears... classic symptoms. When mine went kaput, it was a faulty transmission sensor causing the gearbox to act up. Did you check the transmission sensor?

Interesting. Where exactly is the transmission sensor located, and is it something I could check myself, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

Yeah, it does sound very similar to what I experienced. I wouldn't poke around the transmission sensor yourself unless you're really confident. Think of it like open-heart surgery on your car – best left to the professionals. In my case, the error memory also indicated a faulty control unit in the automatic transmission. I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop for a proper diagnosis. Transmission failure can be a real pain, and it's better to catch it early before it causes even more damage.

Thanks for the help. The local garage confirmed a defective control unit, just as you said. The transmission repair will be around 1000€. I'm going ahead with it. Hopefully, this will solve the problem.
