Skoda Yeti coolant loss and engine light

I've got a head-scratcher. My 2011 Skoda Yeti, diesel engine, with just over 78000 km on the clock, is throwing a fit. The coolant level keeps dropping, and the check engine light is glaring. Hooked it up to a reader, and it's spitting out a generic error about a component connection being defective. I have checked the radiator hoses, but they seem fine. I am concerned about possible engine overheating. Could it be something as simple as the radiator fluid or radiator cap?

Low radiator fluid? Sounds familiar. I had a similar scare with my Skoda a while back. Do you see any coolant on the ground when you park? When was the last time you replaced the radiator cap? It might be worth checking the cooling fan as well, is it running constantly?

Interesting, thanks! I haven't noticed any puddles, and the cap looks okay at a glance. When you had this issue, did the check engine light also come on?

Yeah, the check engine light definitely lit up for me too. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty cable connection. The mechanic told me the vibrations can sometimes loosen them. My advice? Don't mess around, get it to a workshop before it causes more damage.

I took it to the shop, and you were spot on! It was a dodgy connection, just like you said. They charged me 95€ to sort it. Thanks for the heads-up, you saved me a lot of stress!
