Skoda Yeti audio system failure

I'm beyond annoyed. The audio system in my 2013 Skoda Yeti with a gasoline engine has completely died. The whole thing is dead. Doesn’t work at all. I checked and there is an error stored in the error memory. Everything points to the display being defective. Any ideas?

That's a bummer. I had a similar sound system issue on my old Renault Megane. The car speakers would randomly cut out, and sometimes there was this awful speaker crackle, especially when adjusting the volume control. The error memory also had some stored faults. Have you checked the wiring to the head unit? It might be a loose connection or a damaged wire. Though honestly, it could also be the head unit itself failing.

Wiring seems okay at first glance. When your Megane had problems, did you eventually have to replace the whole head unit or was it something else?

Yeah, unfortunately, in my case, it ended up being a defective head unit. I tried everything – checking fuses, messing with the wiring, even the firmware. Nothing worked. Ultimately, I had to replace the entire unit. Given that you've got an error code and the system's totally dead, there's a strong chance yours is toast too. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed, but be prepared for the possibility of a replacement.

Thanks for the info. I took it to a shop, and you called it – the head unit was totally fried. New one installed, cost me 725€ but at least the sound system is working again. What a joke for a car with only 33610 km!
