Hey, yes, I can tell you that! The repair cost me €355. That included the EGR valve, which was defective and jammed. Once the mechanic had fixed everything, i.e. replaced the EGR valve and cleaned the exhaust gas cooler, the engine ran great again. I haven't had any more problems with it since then. So, if you suspect that it could be the EGR valve, I can only advise you to have it repaired quickly. This may save you major costs and trouble in the future. I hope this helps you! LG

Hey, thanks a lot for the detailed information! That really helps me. I now definitely suspect that it's the EGR valve. I probably won't be able to avoid making an appointment at the garage soon. Hopefully I'll find a reliable mechanic this time. Keep your fingers crossed and thanks again for your help! LG

Hey, had a similar problem with my 2016 Skoda Octavia Diesel (145000 km). Exactly the same symptoms: check engine light, engine sometimes stalled, loss of power, rough engine, strong exhaust smell and shuddering at idle. In my case, it was actually the EGR valve that was defective and jammed. The repair was necessary and it was no small matter. The mechanic had to replace the valve, clean the exhaust gas cooler and check some pipes. After the repair, the engine ran perfectly again. Unfortunately, it can also be a costly affair, but if you ignore it, it can lead to even bigger problems. Hope this helps you a little. Best regards
