Fuel efficiency has taken a hit, yeah. You reckon it's worth trying a DPF cleaning before looking at replacement?

Cleaning might offer a temporary fix, but if the DPF is genuinely defective, it'll likely clog up again quickly. Given the age and mileage, a replacement might be the only long-term solution. I'd advise getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop to confirm the extent of the damage.

Cheers for the advice. Turns out the DPF was toast alright. Had to get it replaced, cost me 1550€. Fuel efficiency seems back to normal now though.

I had similar symptoms with my Superb. Reduced engine power and smoke suggest a potential exhaust system issue. Have you noticed any changes in fuel efficiency recently? It could be a sensor fault affecting the DPF's regeneration cycle.
