Skoda Superb ABS Fault

My 2014 Skoda Superb with a gasoline engine is throwing tantrums. The ABS lamp is constantly on, and the whole ABS system seems to have given up. I scanned the error memory, and it points towards a lateral acceleration sensor fault. Considering the mileage is at 108512 km, my initial thought is that the affected control unit is simply defective. Anyone experienced this before? I am dreading the potential repair costs… I heard it might be related to vehicle stability issues.

ABS light, huh? I had a similar issue with my Superb. ABS acting up and the stability control was all over the place. Did you check the yaw rate sensor readings? Could be related to your steering angle sensor as well. Sometimes a bad wheel alignment can throw things off too.

Interesting. When you say 'similar issue', was it also the lateral acceleration sensor? And did replacing the yaw rate sensor fix it completely? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary expenses, since I've already spent a small fortune on this car.

Yeah, it was the lateral acceleration sensor inside the ABS unit itself. We tried recalibrating it, checking wiring, everything. Ultimately, it needed a new ABS control unit. If you're getting a specific error code pointing to it, I'd say get it checked by a workshop. It's a safety issue, after all. Not something to mess with.

Just wanted to thank you for your input. I bit the bullet and took it to a trusted workshop. As suspected, the lateral acceleration sensor within the ABS control unit was indeed faulty. The whole unit needed replacement, costing me around 1000€. A painful experience, but at least the car is stable again. They also checked the steering angle and wheel alignment as a precaution.
