Hi, thanks for your quick reply! It really sounds like we had the same problem. How much did it cost you to replace the particulate filter, if you can still remember? Has anything else come up since then in relation to this problem? Many thanks in advance! VG

Hello, sure, no problem! Replacing the diesel particulate filter cost me around €1550. Who would have thought that high mileage could lead to such a defect, eh? But since I've had it repaired, I've had no more worries. The diesel particulate filter is no longer overloaded and the pungent exhaust smell has also disappeared, so it was money well spent! Hope that helps you. VG

Hi, that's a lot of money, but if it fixes the car then I guess it's worth it. Thanks for the valuable information. I will also take my car to the garage and hope they solve the problem quickly. Thanks again! VG

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Skoda Octavia. The car was also constantly emitting black smoke and the exhaust smell was unbearable. The diagnosis was then a defective diesel particulate filter due to high mileage. It is a serious problem because if it is not fixed, the engine can be damaged. The particulate filter had to be replaced in the workshop because regeneration was no longer possible. I've had bad experiences with my garage before, but in this case they were very competent and quickly identified and fixed the problem. It sounds to me like you have exactly the same problem and should get it fixed at a garage as soon as possible. Good luck with that! VG
