Good point about the refrigerant leak. I hadn't specifically checked for one myself. If there was a leak, wouldn't I see some obvious signs? Where would I even look for that sort of thing? And regarding the power to the compressor, how would I test that without special equipment?

About the leak, sometimes it's not super obvious, but you might see oily residue around the AC lines or the compressor itself. But if you don't have experience, it's probably best not to mess with it. As for testing the power, you'd need a multimeter, and honestly, messing with electrical stuff can be risky. If the error code specifically says it's the control unit, and given the symptoms, it probably is. Honestly, I'd take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and have the right equipment. Is it worth risking further damage?

Just to let you know, the AC control unit was indeed faulty, as the error code suggested. Replacing it cost me 980€. The AC is blowing cold again, so I'm happy. Thanks for your input, it helped me confirm my suspicions!

That sounds rough! A few things come to mind. First, did you check for a refrigerant leak before assuming the compressor was dead? If the refrigerant is low, the compressor won't kick on, right? Also, is the compressor getting power? Maybe a fuse is blown? Just throwing some ideas out there. I am by no means an expert.
