Skoda Roomster starting and stalling problems

My 2007 Skoda Roomster with a gasoline engine is giving me a headache. It's got 147052 km on the clock. Lately, it's been refusing to start sometimes, and when it does, it stalls at idle. The check engine light is on, and the engine runs rough. Also, I've noticed the fuel consumption has gone up. I scanned for errors and it points towards the fuel pump. I'm thinking it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Sounds like fuel starvation. I had similar symptoms with my Skoda Octavia, though it wasn't quite as bad. Check the fuel filter first, it's the easiest thing to eliminate.

Where exactly is that connection located? Can I check it myself without special tools?

Could be the filter, but based on your description and the error code, it does sound like the pump or its wiring. The connection I was referring to is directly at the pump itself. It's accessible, but you'll need to get under the car. Honestly, if you're not comfortable with car mechanics, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Fuel systems aren't something you want to mess with without experience.

Confirmed, a workshop visit revealed a loose connection at the pump. Cost 95€ and the car is running smoothly again. Thanks for the help.
