Skoda Rapid start stop problem

I am experiencing issues with the start-stop system in my 2018 Skoda Rapid with a gasoline engine. The mileage is currently 221334 km. The engine shuts off as expected, and a warning light appears in the speedometer. However, the automatic restart does not occur, and an error is stored in the error memory. Could a heavily discharged or defective car battery be the cause?

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Rapid. The engine start-stop system malfunctioned, and the engine stalled occasionally. Have you checked the car battery?

Thank you for your input. How did you determine it was the car battery? Did you experience any other symptoms besides the engine stalling and start-stop system malfunction?

In my case, the car battery was heavily discharged. The error memory also indicated a low voltage issue. Replacing the car battery resolved the problem. I would advise you to have the car battery tested at a workshop.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and indeed the car battery was the issue. A new car battery solved the problem. Total cost was around 290€.
