Skoda Rapid rear window heating malfunction

Alright, I'm scratching my head over this one. My 2016 Skoda Rapid, gasoline engine, with 70672 km on the clock, is having a rear window heating issue. The rear defroster just refuses to work. VCDS shows an error stored in the error memory. I'm also noticing that the windshield heating isn't working as efficiently as it used to. I'm suspecting that the battery is heavily discharged or defective. Anyone else run into something similar with their car defrost or thermal window?

I had a similar heating issue with my Skoda. Is the windshield heating also affected? It might be related to the battery, especially if it's the original one.

Yeah, the windshield heating isn't performing as usual either. You think a weak battery could really cause the rear defroster and thermal window to fail? Seems weird, never heard of that before. Did you experience the same symptoms?

Exactly the same symptoms here. The error code also pointed to a power supply issue. Replacing the battery solved the problem for me. I suggest getting the battery checked at a workshop. Good luck!

Big thanks for the confirmation and advice! Just got my Skoda Rapid back from the workshop. As suspected, the battery was the culprit – heavily discharged and not holding a charge properly. They replaced it, cleared the error memory, and now the rear window heating is working perfectly again. Windshield heating works as it should too. Total damage: 290€. Appreciate the help!
