Skoda Rapid Diesel Gearbox Issues

My 2017 Skoda Rapid diesel is exhibiting some nasty gearbox issues. Shifts are unclean, almost like it's slipping. Diagnostic points to a transfer case oil wear fault. Suspect it might be defective gears in the transfer case itself. Anyone seen this before?

Slipping and unclean shifts sound worrying. When you say 'transfer case oil wear fault,' what exactly are you basing that on? Have you checked the gear oil level and condition? Low or contaminated gear oil can definitely cause those symptoms. A transfer case, for those less familiar, is what transfers power from the transmission to the axles.

I got the 'transfer case oil wear fault' from the diagnostic tool. I haven't personally checked the gear oil, but is it possible for defective gears inside the transfer case to cause that kind of fault reading? Like, could the wear debris be affecting the oil's properties?

Okay, if the diagnostic is pointing to oil wear, and you're experiencing slipping, then yes, internal gear wear is a very plausible culprit. The wear debris will contaminate the transfer case oil, reducing its lubricating properties and triggering the fault code. It's time for a workshop visit; they can properly assess the damage.

Took it to a trusted mechanic. Diagnosis confirmed significant mechanical wear in the transfer case. Repair cost 330€. Appreciate the insights!
