Fuel efficiency has noticeably decreased. The vehicle inspection didn't reveal a sensor fault initially, but is it possible for a sensor to malfunction intermittently, affecting the regeneration process?

Intermittent sensor issues are common. A faulty sensor can definitely disrupt the regeneration cycle and accelerate DPF clogging. Replacing the DPF is likely the only solution at this point. Best to visit a workshop.

A vehicle inspection confirmed the diesel particulate filter was defective, requiring replacement. The sensor fault contributed to the issue, preventing proper regeneration. The total cost amounted to 1550€ Thank you for the advice.

Reduced engine power and smoke suggest DPF issues. How's your fuel efficiency been lately? Any recent sensor faults?
