Skoda Rapid Diesel Engine Performance Problem

I've got a 2004 Skoda Rapid, diesel engine, with about 222134 km on it. Recently, the engine light came on, and I've noticed a serious drop in engine performance. It's running rough, jerks when I accelerate, and there's a loud hissing sound when I accelerate. Fuel consumption has gone up too. I've read it might be a defective switch intake manifold control. Has anyone else had this problem?

I had a similar problem with my Rapid. Reduced engine performance and jerking sounds familiar. Check your airflow control and the manifold flap. Could be a simple fix.

When you say airflow control, do you mean the intake system? How did you diagnose the manifold flap issue?

Yes, intake system, the manifold flap is part of that. I didn't diagnose it myself; I took it to a workshop. They ran some tests and confirmed it was the flap. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, best to get it checked properly.

Fixed it. It was the intake manifold flap control, exactly as suggested. Cost 465€ to replace. Runs great now. Thanks.
