Skoda Praktik Engine Problems

I'm experiencing some problems with my 2009 Skoda Praktik (gasoline engine). The engine sometimes refuses to start, other times it shuts off while driving, and sometimes it runs really rough. I suspect it could be a car ignition problem. I will check all fuses that are related to the ignition system, but any ideas where to start besides that?

Whoa, that sounds like a proper headache! Ignition issues are the worst. Could be a bunch of things, right? Have you checked the battery terminals, or is there any chance the key fob battery is low? Sometimes that messes with the car electronics and the starting issue. Just throwing out some ideas, not sure if they help though!

Good ideas, thanks! About the key fob battery, is it possible for it to cause the engine to shut off while driving? I thought it was only used for unlocking.

Okay, shutting off while driving sounds serious! I'm honestly not 100% sure about the key fob battery thing causing that, but car electronics can be weird. It is possible that a faulty ignition coil relay can cause the engine to shut off, and also might cause starting issue. Probably best to get it checked by a workshop. I would hate to steer you wrong.

Appreciate the insight. Turns out it was a defective fuse related to the ignition coil. Replaced it myself, cost around 52€ for the part. The starting issue, rough engine running and sudden engine shut off are now gone.
