Skoda Octavia Diesel Oil Pressure Warning

I've got a weird one. My 2013 Skoda Octavia diesel is throwing some errors. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up and there's a warning light showing up on the speedometer. Car diagnostics says faulty engine oil temperature sensor and an error stored in the error memory. The diagnostics also suggested that a likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Octavia, though it was a while back. Have you checked the wiring and the plug connection to the oil sensor? That's where I would start looking. Seems to be a common problem.

When you say similar issue, do you mean the oil pressure light also came on? And how did you figure out it was the wiring specifically?

Yes, the oil pressure light came on as well. Seems the faulty temperature reading messes with the oil pressure readings too. As for the wiring, after checking the basics, it was the most plausible cause according to the error codes I was getting and personal experience. But honestly, unless you're comfortable with car electrics, best to get a workshop to check it.

Took it to the workshop as suggested. It was indeed the cable to the oil temperature sensor, just like the car diagnostics said. They replaced the faulty cable/plug and the sensor seems to be working fine now. Total cost 95€. Thanks for the help!
