Skoda Octavia Diesel Engine Starting Problems

My Skoda Octavia, built in 2022 with a diesel engine, is having some concerning issues at 134356 km. Sometimes the engine won't start, and occasionally it shuts off while I'm driving. There's also intermittent rough engine running. I'm thinking it might be the ignition switch. Has anyone had similar problems? Could it be a defective fuse?

I remember dealing with something similar on my Octavia. The symptoms you describe, like the engine refusing to start and the intermittent shutdowns, definitely point to an ignition issue. Have you checked the ignition coil? A faulty ignition key was also suspected, leading to erratic car electronics and problems with turning the key. It's worth looking into those areas.

Thanks for the quick reply. You mentioned a faulty ignition key. Was it a complete failure, or just intermittent? Did you experience any rough engine running before the shutdowns?

In my case, the ignition key issue was intermittent at first, but became more frequent over time. And yes, I did experience rough running just before some of the shutdowns. Given your symptoms and my experience, I'd strongly suggest having the ignition switch and related electronics inspected by a professional at a workshop. It's better to be safe, especially with possible ignition problems.

The problem turned out to be a bad fuse related to the ignition switch. Replacing it cost 52€. Thanks for the assistance.
