Check engine light on

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2013 Skoda Octavia Diesel and need your help! I now have 165432 km on the odometer and am noticing some strange symptoms: The check engine light is on, the engine stalls on its own, it takes longer to start when cold, there is a lack of engine power, the engine runs rough, it jerks when accelerating and sometimes the car just won't start. After my last experience at the mechanic was not so great, I think it could be due to a fault in the fuel pump. Have any of you had similar experiences? How did the mechanic solve this for you? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2010 Skoda Superb. In my case, it was incorrect software values for the fuel pump. This was a serious fault that my mechanic discovered during the diagnosis. Like you, my engine would sometimes stall, it would run rough and the car would start badly in the cold. The solution was a software update to the fuel pump, which really worked wonders. The engine now runs like clockwork and the symptoms have completely disappeared. You should definitely take your car to the garage for a closer inspection. Hope that helps!

Hi, that sounds like the solution my Octavia could use. Could you happen to remember how much this fun cost you? And have any other problems occurred since then that might be related to the fault? Thanks in advance!

Hey, so the good news is after I visited the mechanic, the fuel pump defect was fixed. It was a problem with the fuel pump software values which were wrong. The fun cost me €45, which I think is pretty fair as my Skoda is now running like new again. No further problems have occurred since. So it seems that the fault has been fully rectified. So definitely worth a visit to the garage. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for your feedback. If the whole thing really only costs €45 and my Skoda runs again afterwards, that sounds absolutely feasible. Your information totally reassures me. Tomorrow morning I'm off to the garage. Thanks again for your help!
