Skoda Kodiaq start stop problem

I'm having issues with the start-stop system in my 2017 Skoda Kodiaq with a diesel engine. The car has 106268 km on the clock. The engine shuts off as it should, and a warning light appears on the speedometer. Also, there is an error stored in the error memory. Could this be a battery issue?

I've seen similar behavior with the start-stop system on my previous car, a BMW 3 Series. Does the engine try to restart automatically after stalling, or does it stay off? Have you checked the battery's voltage recently?

The engine shuts off as expected, but it doesn't restart automatically. I haven't checked the battery voltage myself. Is there a specific voltage range I should be looking for?

That sounds very similar to my issue. The lack of automatic restart and the error code do point towards a battery issue. A healthy battery should read around 12.6V, but a failing one might drop significantly lower under load. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can perform a load test on the battery to confirm if that's the problem.

You were right. The workshop confirmed the battery was heavily discharged. A new battery was installed, and the start-stop system is working again. The repair cost 290€. Thanks for the advice.
