Car won't start

Hello everyone, my Skoda Kodiaq Diesel, built in 2017, is currently having a few problems. Symptoms: longer cold start time, the car sometimes won't start, strange engine noises, weak battery when starting, flickering lights and a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect that it may not be possible to start the engine. Has anyone had similar experiences and can give tips or report how the problem was fixed at the garage? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2019 Skoda Octavia. I have some experience with cars, so let's say I have a bit of experience. My symptoms were very similar: long cold start, weak battery, and flickering lights. I took it to the garage and they fixed it free of charge because they found out that it was a secondary fault in the car's electrics. Everything then worked perfectly again. It's best to have your car battery and electrics checked. If it's a similar problem, the repair could be free of charge. Can you provide more detailed information about your vehicle, e.g. mileage and when you last changed the battery? Then I can help you even better. Greetings,

Hey, thanks for the tip! My bike now has 176543 km on the clock. It's been a while since the battery was changed, so it might be a good idea to have it checked. I'll definitely have the electrics checked. Greetings,

Hey, then it's definitely a good idea to take a closer look at the battery and the electrics. Given the mileage, it's not unusual for the battery to go flat at some point. The alternator could also do with a check. In my Octavia, it was the vehicle electrics that were responsible for the battery functions - and that's where the faults occurred. It may well be that your Kodiaq has a similar problem. If the battery is really old, replacing it would probably be a good investment. I would advise you to go to a trustworthy garage and have the whole thing checked out. Garages often also have a diagnostic device with which they can quickly find out where the fault lies. Keep me posted on what you find out! Greetings,

Hey, thanks for the detailed information! It does sound like we're thinking along similar lines. I'll go to a garage soon and have the battery and electrics checked. It's better to tackle it now before I break down at some point. Hopefully it really is just a minor problem that is easy to fix. I'll definitely keep you posted on what the garage says! Regards,
