Skoda Kodiaq Issues Reduced Engine Power

Alright, Skoda gurus, I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2023 Skoda Kodiaq with a gasoline engine (189279 km on the clock) is throwing a fit. Getting reduced engine power, a warning light on the dash, and it's starting poorly. Plus, the lights are flickering like crazy. I scanned the error memory and it's pointing towards a faulty generator. Could a defective generator really cause all these issues? I'm worried about the car won't start condition. Any ideas before I start tearing things apart?

Whoa, sounds rough! I had a similar issue with my Kodiaq a while back. Reduced power and the battery light were the first signs. Have you checked the serpentine belt? A failing belt can definitely cause the generator to underperform and give you all those symptoms. Also, any weird noises coming from the engine bay?

Thanks for the quick reply! The serpentine belt looks okay visually, but I haven't really put a wrench on it. How did you pinpoint the generator as the culprit? Did you have the same error codes stored in the memory?

Yeah, the serpentine belt was my first thought too, but in my case, the error codes were pretty specific to the charging system. Plus, the car eventually refused to start at all – the starter motor just clicked. Best bet is to get the generator properly tested. A workshop can load test it to see if it's actually putting out the correct voltage and amperage. Don't ignore this, or you'll end up stranded somewhere!

Just a heads up the garage confirmed it’s the generator. Quoted me 960€ for the repair. Ouch! But at least I know what's up. Thanks again for your help, you potentially saved me from chasing ghosts!
