Hey, you're welcome! With 176543 km on the clock and the 2.0 TDI engine, there are a few specific points to look out for. In my Karoq, in addition to the problem with the cable connection, a clogged diesel particulate filter (DPF) was once also responsible for similar symptoms. A clogged DPF can cause black smoke, especially under heavy acceleration, and it can cause the engine control unit to switch to emergency mode, which in turn causes loss of power and the check engine light. The long cold start problem could also be related to the glow plugs or the glow plug controller. When I was in the workshop at the time, the DPF was cleaned and the glow plugs were checked and replaced if necessary. These repairs did cost a little more, but afterwards everything ran smoothly again. Perhaps you can look in this direction to see if this could be the problem. Otherwise, I think that a thorough diagnosis by a reputable workshop could really help in your case! I hope that helps you. Keep us posted on how things develop. VG

Hey, thanks for the additional tips! The diesel particulate filter and the glow plugs could well be the case. I'll have these points checked next time I'm at the garage. A thorough diagnosis also seems like the way to go to make sure I'm not missing any major problems. I'll keep you posted on what the garage finds out and how the problem develops. Thanks again for your help and detailed suggestions! VG

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Skoda Karoq Diesel (year 2017). My experience with cars is in the "a bit of experience" range. My Karoq had similar symptoms: black smoke, check engine light, and loss of power. In my case, it was the plug/cable connection that was defective. The defective connection was replaced in the workshop at a cost of 155.00 euros. After that, my Karoq ran smoothly again. To be able to help you better, it would be good to know exactly which engine you have and how many kilometers your Kodiaq has already run. Maybe someone here in the forum has more specific tips for your engine. Hope this helps you! LG
