Skoda Kodiaq 2019 problems again and again the starter does not work

Longer cold start time

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Dim or flickering lights

Weak battery when starting the engine

Weird engine noise

Car won't start

Hi everyone, I drive a 2019 Skoda Kodiaq with a petrol engine and have recently started having problems. The symptoms are longer start times in cold weather, starting problems, strange engine noises, low battery when starting, dimming or flickering lights and a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect it may be due to "engine start may not be possible". Have any of you had similar experiences and know how the problem was fixed by the garage? I am grateful for any help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2017 Skoda Octavia. I have some experience with cars, but not at a professional level. In my case, it was ultimately an electrical problem too - the fault resulted from a secondary fault in the car's electrics. I then went to my garage and they were able to fix the problem at no cost to me. It turned out that a malfunction in the electrical system was responsible for all the symptoms. It would be best if you could give us a little more information about your vehicle, e.g. mileage and whether the problem gradually got worse or came on suddenly. Then I might be able to help you more specifically. Best regards!

Hey, thanks for your reply! My Kodiaq currently has 109876 km on the clock and the problem has gradually worsened. Initially it was just the longer starting times in the cold, but now the other symptoms have also been added. I'm wondering if it might have something to do with the battery or alternator. I will be going to the garage next week anyway and hope they find the fault quickly. Do you have any tips on what I should tell the garage specifically? Kind regards!

Hey, so the mileage doesn't sound too bad, but if the problem has gradually worsened, then it could definitely be the battery or alternator. I had a problem like this a few months ago with my Skoda Kodiaq 2019. It eventually turned out that the alternator wasn't charging properly and the battery had become weak. When you go to the garage, I would definitely tell them to check both the battery and the alternator. It would also be good if you tell them all the symptoms in detail, i.e. the longer starting times, the starting problems, the strange noises, and that the lights are dimming or flickering. The more information they have, the better they can find the fault. You can also tell them that you have heard of an electrical problem and that they should keep an eye on it. Sometimes it helps if they know that you've done a bit of research and which components you suspect. Keep your fingers crossed that it will be solved quickly and easily! Best regards!

Hey, thanks for the tips! Will definitely tell the garage to check both the battery and the alternator. Your experience really sounds like what I imagine it could be. I will also point out to them that it could possibly be an electrical problem and tell them all the symptoms in detail. Hopefully the problem will be fixed quickly so I can get back on the road without worry. Thanks again for your help! Best regards!
