Check engine light on

Hello everyone, I have a question about my 2017 Skoda Karoq with a diesel engine and 104,567 km on the clock. Recently it has been causing problems: black smoke from the exhaust when accelerating, engine warning light on, loss of power, exhaust leaking and strong exhaust odor. I suspect that it has something to do with the exhaust aftertreatment. Has anyone had similar problems and what was your experience at the mechanic? I am grateful for any help! Thanks and best regards!

Hello, I had similar symptoms with my 2015 Skoda Octavia. One of the lambda sensors was defective. This manifested itself as black smoke coming out of the exhaust, loss of power and the engine warning light was also on. The mechanic confirmed that the lambda sensor was the problem. After it was replaced, the engine ran perfectly again and the exhaust problems were solved. It wasn't an absolute emergency, but it definitely shouldn't be ignored as it can lead to more serious problems in the long term. Hope this helps you! Best regards!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! That sounds pretty similar to my problems. Do you remember how much you paid for the repair? And has anything else come up since replacing the lambda sensor? Best regards!

Hey, sure, I can tell you. After I went to the mechanic, the fault in the exhaust aftertreatment system was rectified. It turned out that the fault was actually in one of the lambda sensors. The repair cost me €375. Since then, everything has been running perfectly again and no further problems have arisen. Hope this helps you! Best regards!

Hey, great, thanks for the info! That definitely helps me. I'll visit the mechanic and have the lambda sensor checked. Let's see if that solves the problem for me too. Thanks again for your help! Best regards!
