Skoda Karoq Oxygen Sensor Heater Error

My 2019 Skoda Karoq with a gasoline engine has an oxygen sensor heater error. The malfunction indicator is on, and I'm burning more fuel. My code reader says the cable or plug connection is likely defective. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Oxygen sensor issues are annoying! I had a similar issue with my Karoq. Check the wiring and connectors leading to the sensor. A loose or corroded connection can cause the heater element to malfunction, triggering the check engine light and messing with the air-fuel ratio. I saved money by checking that first!

That's helpful. When you say 'similar', do you mean you also had the heater element error specifically? Did cleaning the contacts solve it, or did you end up replacing the sensor?

Yes, the heater element was the problem on mine too. I cleaned the connector, but the light reappeared after a few days. I replaced the oxygen sensor. Unless you're confident with electrical work, have a workshop check it. They can diagnose if it's the wiring or the sensor that's faulty and check the air-fuel ratio.

I'm closing this issue. Following the advice, I visited a local shop. It turned out to be a corroded connector, as suspected. A new oxygen sensor and labor cost 95€. Thanks for the assistance!
