How exactly do I perform that voltage drop test you mentioned? I'm not entirely sure where to start.

If you're unfamiliar with voltage drop testing, it might be best to leave it to someone with more experience. Given the symptoms and error code, and your suspicion of a wiring issue, it's reasonably likely that's the culprit. However, a faulty sensor can't be ruled out completely without proper diagnostics. Perhaps taking it to a workshop for a quick diagnosis would be the most efficient route to avoid further issues.

Turns out it was a defective camshaft sensor cable. 95€ and it's running smoothly again.

Camshaft position sensor failure on a Karoq with the gasoline engine isn't unheard of. The symptoms you describe – poor starting, reduced power, error code – align with that. Before condemning the sensor itself, did you thoroughly check the wiring harness and connector for corrosion, damage, or loose connections? A simple voltage drop test on the wiring can sometimes pinpoint the issue before replacing the sensor. It might also be worth inspecting the crankshaft position sensor as the ECU uses both signals.
