Skoda Kamiq Start Stop Problems

I'm at my wit's end with this start-stop system in my 2023 Skoda Kamiq with a diesel engine. It's got 207057 km on the clock. The start-stop just refuses to cooperate. Engine shuts off randomly, a warning light screams at me from the speedometer, and there's an error stored in the error memory. Could it be a battery issue? Is this a common problem with these hybrid vehicles? I'm suspecting the car battery is heavily discharged or defective, but could it be something else? Any ideas before I end up at the mercy of the workshop?

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Vauxhall Astra a while back. Start-stop just packed it in. Did the engine actually stall, or did the system just stop working? In my case, it turned out to be a dodgy battery. Have you checked the battery's voltage?

Interesting about your Vauxhall Astra! When you say 'dodgy battery,' do you mean it was completely dead, or just not holding charge properly? Because the engine starts fine, it's just the start-stop that's throwing a fit. And how did you figure out it was the battery specifically?

Okay, so mine wasn't completely dead either; the car started fine. However, the start-stop system is very sensitive to voltage drops. Basically, the car's computer decided the battery wasn't healthy enough to handle restarting the engine after a stop. If you have a similar error, I'd suggest getting the battery properly tested or just taking it to a workshop.

You were spot on. Took my Skoda Kamiq to the workshop, and it was indeed the car battery. New one fitted, start-stop system is purring like a kitten, and the error's gone. Cost me 290€, but peace of mind is priceless. Thanks a bunch for your help, truly appreciate it!
