Skoda Kamiq problems with misfiring for some time now

Stalling while idling

Poor fuel economy

Check engine light on

Jerking on acceleration

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Shaking while idling

Unsteady engine

Loss of engine power

Car won't start

Hello everyone, my Skoda Kamiq, year of manufacture 2020 with gasoline engine, shows some problems: black smoke when accelerating, engine light on, loss of power, restless engine, jerking when accelerating, does not start, high fuel consumption, engine stalls at idle, vibrates at idle. Could be a defect in the ignition coil or misfiring. Has anyone had similar experiences and how did you solve the problem? What did your garage do? Thanks in advance for your tips!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2018 Skoda Karoq. I only have some experience with cars, but my garage diagnosed it pretty quickly. In my case, the engine control unit was defective. I had to pay around 1000.0 euros for it. The symptoms were practically identical: black smoke, loss of power, engine light on and jerking when accelerating. To be able to help you more specifically, it would be good to know which engine you have installed and how many kilometers your Kamiq has done. Then I could give you more details. Kind regards

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. My Kamiq now has 96,543 km on the clock. It has the 1.5 TSI engine. Kind regards

Hey, no problem! Some people have already had similar problems with the 1.5 TSI engine. If it has 96,543 km under its belt, it could well be within the realms of possibility. As I said, in my case it was the engine control unit and the symptoms were almost exactly the same as yours. A faulty engine control unit can cause a variety of problems, including the ones you described. Black smoke and poor engine running often indicate a misfire or incorrect fuel metering. The engine control unit regulates these processes and a fault in it can cause all of these symptoms. I would recommend that you go to the garage as soon as possible and have the engine control unit checked. In my case, the repair cost around 1000.00 euros, but I haven't had any problems since. If it turns out that the engine control unit is not the problem, other causes such as the injectors, the turbocharger or even the catalytic converter could be possible. But first I would have the ECU checked. Good luck and I hope your Kamiq runs smoothly again soon! Best regards,

Hey, thanks for the tip! I'll definitely take it up with the garage and have the engine control unit checked. Hopefully that's it and the repair will help. I'll let you know what the garage says in case anyone else has similar problems. Kind regards
