Misfire codes, no. When you say wiring harness, where exactly should I be looking? Is there a specific area more prone to issues?

Yes, it's very likely the solenoid valve. I'd check the wiring near the valve itself, as it can get damaged from heat and vibration. If the wiring looks okay, it's probably the valve itself. Given the symptoms, replacing the valve is probably the best course of action. It’s a fairly common issue. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, a workshop should be able to sort it out quickly.

Took it to the workshop, and you were right. They confirmed it was the inlet camshaft solenoid valve. I had it replaced, and the engine light is off, and fuel consumption seems back to normal. It cost me around 250€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like VANOS issues similar to what I experienced on my Skoda Octavia, although mine is a petrol version. The check engine light and increased fuel consumption are classic symptoms. Have you checked for any engine misfire codes, as that can also be related to the inlet camshaft timing being off? It could be a faulty solenoid valve or a problem with the wiring. I'd start by inspecting the wiring harness for any damage or loose connections.
