Skoda Kamiq Diesel Engine Issue

My 2019 Skoda Kamiq with a diesel engine has some concerning symptoms. The preheating lamp won't switch off, the check engine light is on, and I see smoke upon acceleration. I suspect a defective glow control unit, or a faulty cable/plug connection. Has anyone encountered this? How did you diagnose it?

I have a Kamiq too. Your issue sounds familiar. Does the smoke smell strong? I had a similar problem with the preheating lamp and check engine light, and it was related to the glow plug system. Have you checked the glow plugs?

When you say 'related to the glow plug system,' do you mean the glow plugs themselves, or the control unit? Did you notice increased smoke, especially during acceleration?

Yes, I meant the glow plug control unit. The increased smoke was noticeable, especially on cold starts. I'd suggest having the control unit checked professionally. Is it worth risking further damage trying to diagnose it yourself?

The workshop confirmed a defective glow control unit. Replacement cost was 95€. Everything runs smoothly now. Thanks for the input.
