Skoda Kamiq automatic transmission issues

I'm experiencing a perplexing issue with my 2023 Skoda Kamiq with a gasoline engine. The gear selection display in the speedometer is not functioning, and engaging the gears is impossible. The automatic transmission exhibits implausible shifting behavior, sometimes slipping or shifting uncleanly, accompanied by grinding noises. It seems like the error memory points to a defective control unit. Could this be the cause? The repair cost is estimated to be around 1000€.

Whoa, sounds rough! My Kamiq had similar issues last year. The gear selector was acting up, and the instrument panel was showing gibberish. Did you check for any error codes?

Yes, there is an error stored in the error memory. You mentioned your Kamiq had similar issues. Was it also a sensor problem, and did it affect the digital display in the speedometer?

Yep, it sounds like the same gremlin I had! The sensor problem caused all sorts of havoc with the gear selector and the digital display. The workshop said it was a known issue with the control unit. I'd suggest taking it in; they'll probably recommend replacing the whole unit.

Took the Kamiq to the workshop, and you were spot on. They confirmed the control unit was faulty and replaced it. The gear selection display is working perfectly again. Cost me around 1000€, thanks for your help!
