Loss of engine power

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Skoda Fabia Diesel from 2013. The check engine light is on, the engine just shuts off, the cold start time is longer than usual, there is a loss of power and the engine runs rough. It jerks when accelerating and sometimes the car won't start. I suspect that the fuel pump could be defective. Have any of you ever had a problem like this and can give me tips or experience on how to fix it? I am particularly interested in how you have solved this in the workshop and what experiences you have had. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Skoda Octavia Diesel, model 2011. My car knowledge is limited, but I tried to solve the problem anyway. At the garage, they found that the wrong software values were set for the fuel pump. After they corrected these, the car ran perfectly again. I paid around 45 euros for this. Could you perhaps give a few more details about your car? For example, which fuel pump do you have? That would help me to help you a bit more precisely.

Hey, thanks for the quick response. I'm not quite sure exactly which fuel pump is installed. I've never had any problems with it so far. The last service was at a mileage of 164321 km and no defects were found. Maybe that will help you?

No problem, you're welcome. As I was hoping my experience might be helpful, any info is always useful. It's interesting information that no faults were found at your last service, even though you're having these problems now. Such symptoms could indicate a fuel system problem. And yes, the type of fuel pump could also be crucial. But don't stress, you could still ask the garage if they could check the software values, as in my case. Or maybe it really is the fuel pump. If the car is already quite old, it's quite possible that it could be broken. See what the guys at the garage say and then get back to me. I can't wait to see what you come up with. At the end of the day, I hope it turns out to be something small and not too expensive! Stay tuned and good luck!

Hey, thanks again for the support! That sounds like a sensible suggestion. I'll go to the garage tomorrow and ask for the software values. You know what, I'll even tell them about your story. Maybe that will help. I'll also have them check if the pump needs replacing. I also hope it's nothing major. I'll keep you up to date. Thanks again and have a nice evening!
