Skoda Fabia Power Window Issue After Battery Replacement

Hello, I am at my wit's end. After replacing the vehicle battery on my 2007 Skoda Fabia with a gasoline engine and 93155 km on the clock, the power windows are completely unresponsive. Now the car window won't even move. I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. An error is stored in the error memory. Could this really be caused by just replacing the battery? Has anyone had a similar problem with their car window? Power window issues are such a pain, are there any known window troubleshooting steps before I have to take it to a mechanic?

Ugh, that sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 208 after replacing the battery. Could it be the window switch? Or maybe the car electronics are just being finicky after the power loss? Does the error message give you any more details?

Thanks for the quick reply. The error message is pretty generic, something like 'window regulator initialization unsuccessful'. How did you solve the problem with your Peugeot? Did you have to replace any parts, or was it just a matter of resetting something?

Okay, so my Peugeot did the exact same thing. The error pointed to the window regulator needing a reset. I tried a few online tricks, but nothing worked. In the end, I had to take it to a workshop to have them re-initialize it with their diagnostic tools. It's probably worth getting it checked; it sounds like your Skoda has the same problem.

Thank you for your help and for your insights. I followed your advice and took it to a workshop. They confirmed the window regulator needed re-initialization after the battery change. Cost me 290€, but at least my car window is working again. I appreciate you sharing your experience.
