Skoda Fabia cruise control does not come on and no error code stored

Cruise control without function

Fault stored

Hello everyone, my Skoda Fabia Diesel, built in 2009, has a problem with the cruise control. It no longer works and an error is stored. Do you have any experience with this problem? What could be the cause and how did you fix it? Has anyone been to a workshop with this problem and can report back? Thank you very much! LG

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Skoda Roomster, built in 2010. My control unit was defective and I had to have it replaced in the workshop. I paid about 1000 euros. I would describe my experience with cars as "some experience". The workshop read out the control unit and quickly established that it was faulty. After the replacement, everything ran smoothly again. To be able to help you more, I would need some information from you: Is it just the cruise control not working or are there any other abnormalities? Is the check engine light on? LG

Hey, thanks for your answer! In my Fabia, it's actually just the cruise control that's not working. The check engine light is off, so no other abnormalities. The last service was at 187,000 km and it currently has 187,654 km on the clock. I was already thinking about going to the garage. Do you have any recommendations as to what I should look out for in particular or what I could address directly? LG

Hey, thanks for the additional information! As you have already mentioned that there are no other abnormalities apart from the cruise control and no illuminated engine control light, it could perhaps be due to a minor problem, e.g. a defective cruise control switch or a broken cable. I would definitely recommend having the control unit read out first before you have any unnecessary parts replaced. Sometimes it can simply be a fused cable. In my case, it was the control unit, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case for you. Make sure that the workshop also checks the cruise control switches and their wiring. Sometimes sensors such as the brake light switch or clutch switch can also be the cause if the cruise control is not working. I hope this helps you a bit! Let us know what happens next. LG

Hey, thanks for the tips! I'll start by having the control unit read out and see if that's the problem. I'll also look specifically at the cruise control switches and the wiring, as you suggested. Very good tip about the sensors for the brake and clutch switch, I'll have that checked straight away. I'll definitely report back when I know more or when the problem has been solved. LG
