Hey, thanks for your quick reply. My car's last service was at 175,812 km and there were no major issues there, just routine maintenance and oil changes. There have been no major changes since then. That sounds really bad about the ECU... That's really the last thing I was hoping for. Do you have any additional tips before I decide to take the car in for a service? Thank you in advance!

Hello again, Well, that's good to know. It could have been a recent repair that caused the problem. I understand your fright about the control unit. That was a nasty surprise for me too. But it doesn't necessarily have to be the same for you, it could be something less serious. One other piece of advice I can give you is maybe to check that the brake lights are working. I have heard that if there is a problem with the brake lights, the cruise control system can also switch off. Maybe that will help with your problem. And of course it can also help to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and reconnect it. This will reset the system and minor faults can be rectified. But at the end of the day, I would still advise you to take the car in for an inspection. Either way, it's always better to have a specialist look at it. Hopefully I've been able to help you. Good luck with it!

Thanks for the valuable tips. I have checked the brake lights and the battery and everything seems to be OK. It looks like I will have to take it to the garage after all. But your advice is really helpful to check everything myself before going to the experts. You've definitely helped me, thank you again! I'll let you know exactly what the problem was and how it was fixed after the inspection. Until then, I wish you all the best!

Hi, I once had a similar problem with my Skoda Rapid (2014 model year). I would say I have a small amount of experience with cars, but I was on it enough to be able to solve the problem. My garage found that the control unit was faulty, which was quite expensive. I had to pay about 1000 euros for the repair. Can you tell us a bit more about your vehicle, especially if there have been any recent repairs or modifications? This might help us to better understand the exact cause of the problem. I hope this helps a little!
