Hi, thanks for the quick information. It looks like I have the same problem as you had with your Peugeot 307. Your description of the damaged cables on the electric changeover valve is very helpful. Do you happen to remember how much you had to spend to get this problem fixed at the garage? I realize it probably varies, but an estimate would be really helpful. And have there been any other problems with your car after that or was it a one-off? Thanks again for your help!

Hey, no problem, I'm happy to help! So, about the costs: I paid €155 to have the damaged cables on the electric changeover valve repaired. And yes, the function of the exhaust gas recirculation was also faulty, but luckily the mechanic fixed that at the same time. So, if you have the same problem as I did back then, it could be similar. Nothing has gone wrong with me since, so I'd say it was a one-off - at least I hope so for your sake. But as always - no guarantees, every car and every damage can be different. Take care and good luck!

Hey, €155 is actually not as bad as I thought. I probably won't be able to avoid going back to the mechanic after all. It's good to know that nothing has happened to you since then, that at least gives me a little hope. Thanks again for your help and advice. Very helpful indeed! See you then and hopefully we'll hear from you again under better circumstances!

Hi, I once had a similar problem with my 2006 Peugeot 307. Same symptoms - black smoke, engine power down, hissing and everything. It turned out that it was the damaged cables on the electric changeover valve that were causing all these problems. The garage had to replace the faulty cables on the electric changeover valve and also check and repair the exhaust gas recirculation if necessary. It was pretty severe, but luckily it wasn't an ongoing problem. Once the cables and changeover valve were replaced, all the symptoms were gone. If I had to guess, I'd say your problem could already be coming from faulty cables. Don't stop researching it and looking for a solution. Good luck with that!
